Take A Time-Out…Relax And Enjoy A Simple, Fat-Free Crochet Project

The holiday activity is over; the new year has begun. The toys and games have been tossed aside; the youngters are bored. Time-out…

Whether you are looking for a simple craft project that can quickly be taught to young children or you just need a quick project to relax with, the patterns below provide the perfect solution.

The Coin Purse:
Supplies: A small amount of yarn wool worstered or cotton/ crochet hook, size E

Ch 4, join to form a ring. Row 1: ch 1, 10 sc in the ring, join in ch 1. Row 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each sc around. join. Row 3: ch 1 * 1 sc in 1st sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * around, join. Row 4: ch 1, 1 sc in BACK LOOPS of each sc around, join. Rows 5-13, work even.
Row 14: chain 2,1 dc in each sc around, join. Row 15,chain 1, 1 sc in each dc, join. Row 16: chain 2, 1 dc in same space as chain 2, 2 dc in each sc around, join. Finish off. Secure loose ends.
Drawstring: chain 66 stitches, secure ends. Weave the drawstring through row 14, begin at the back of the pouch-pick up 2 dc at at time as you weave the drawstring through.

Use your imagination to create unique, one-of-a-kind party pouches. Add fabric paint and other decorations to create adult pouches. The pattern can easily be modified to create larger purses or even baskets.

Supplies: Small amount of wool worstered, crochet hook, size D

Chain 6, turn, skip first sc, 1 sc in 5 sc, turn ,chain 1,*1 hdc in BACK LOOPS 5 sc, chain 1, turn. Rep from * until you reach desired length. Leave about 2 inches extra to attach a buckle. (abt. 1 inch overlap on each end) The interlocking buckle can be purchased from a craft store—- Or handcraft a creative buckle.
